I only started playing this week so i'm still quite new, but it actually IS harder than the main titles because it autosaves everytime and you can't turn it off or go back to a previous save. Well thankfully all vault wellers are back on their feet now thanks to a few lucky rushes and encounters with the mysterious stranger (but one dweller i removed while she was dead because i didn't want my dwellers to be unhappy).
Two thriving vaults, never had to pay anything.
